Police have charged a Huntsville man with murder after the teen he is accused of shooting at a local restaurant earlier in the week died Thursday.

Donovan Little, 19, is charged with killing James Townsend, 15, of Huntsville.  Townsend was shot inside the Taco Bell on N. Memorial Pkwy., around 8:45 p.m. Sunday.

Officers responding to the call found the Townsend suffering from gunshot wounds.  He was taken to the hospital in serious condition.

Police said Townsend was inside the store waiting in line when Little walked up to him, pulled a gun and shot him before leaving the store.  Little turned himself in to police a short time later.

It appears the Sunday shooting stemmed from an August 2015 shooting inside a home in the 2500 block of Holmes Avenue.  Little was apparently shot by Townsend and was facing assault charges for that shooting.

Little had been facing an attempted murder charge for the shooting and investigators have upgraded that to murder.  Little remains in the Madison County Jail.
