Huntsville police seek suspect in store shooting

(From release) Huntsville police are investigating a shooting that resulted in the death of a local man.

Officers responded to a call of a shooting in the parking lot of a convenience store at Oakwood Avenue and Pulaski Pike around noon Thursday.  Officers then found the victim, Lucas Payne, 36, suffering from a gunshot wound.  He was transported to Huntsville Hospital where he later died.

Investigators are searching for a black SUV that left the scene going east on Oakwood Avenue.  The SUV was occupied by at least one black male.  If anyone has any information about the shooting, police are asking them to call 256-722-7100.
