Weekend public safety roundup

The following incidents were reported by law enforcement from late Friday to early Monday:

A man was cut during a fight late Friday.

Jerad Michael Woods and another man got into a fight at Ditto Marina shortly after 10 p.m.

The other man then cut Woods several times with a knife.

Woods was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests were reported.

Police are investigating after a man's body was found near a railroad line early Saturday.

The victim, whose name has been withheld by police, was found along 14th Street around 12:30 a.m.

Police said he was 47 years of age.

A man was chargd with robbery after trying to steal a TV from an area Wal-Mart early Sunday.

An off-duty officer was at the store on Sutton Road when an employee told him someone was taking a TV without paying for it.

The officer saw the man exiting the store and tried to stop him.

The man shoved the cop and tried to run away.

The thief, identified as Walter Lee Hicks, was caught after a short chase and charged with third-degree robbery.

A man was robbed early Sunday after catching a ride to a store with a stranger.

Jose Luis got the ride around 4:30 a.m.

During the trip the driver pulled a knife and robbed Luis of his money.

The driver and a female passenger then forced the victim out of the car in front of 2605 University Drive and fled.

No arrests were reported.

A wmoanw as cut a fight late Sunday.

Tosia Shontae Russell was injured while fighting with someone in the 4900 block of Clardy Road around 8 p.m.

She was taken to Huntsville Hospital by a family member and treated for non-life threatening injuries.

No arrests were reported.
