(From release) The Combined Federal Campaign award ceremony today at the Bob Jones Auditorium saw Maj. Gen. James E. Rogers, Commanding General of the US Army Aviation and Missile Command, thank Federal donors and Federal volunteers for their support.

The goal for the 2011 CFC was $2.4 million, and a total of more than $2.9 million was contributed to charities. "We surpassed our goal by almost six percent this year, during a time when our area was damaged by devastating tornados last April," Rogers said. "We did it because we knew it was the right thing to do." The Chairman's Award Plaque was presented to Federal agencies that met or exceeded the financial goals for their campaign. The individuals who served as the financial chair for their organization were presented with individual awards as well.

The Tennessee Valley CFC is comprised of Federal agencies and their employees from six North Alabama counties:  Cullman, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall and Morgan.  They have about 19,400 Federal employees that are a part of the campaign.

CFC celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2011. CFC was established in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy to give Federal, Military and Postal Service employees the opportunity to contribute to charitable organizations through payroll deductions. Employees can designate up to five agencies to donate to and can choose from 170 local agencies and more than 1,900 international/national agencies.
