Madison County School Board names new superintendent

(From release) In a special session of the Madison County Board of Education on Tuesday evening, the Board appointed Dr. David Copeland  as the next superintendent, replacing Dr. Terry Davis who retired December 1, 2011.  Dr. Copeland will finish the unexpired term of Dr. Davis that will end December 31, 2014.

Dr. Copeland, current Superintendent of Crane R-III Schools in Crane, Missouri, will begin his term as the Superintendent of Madison County Schools effective March 1st.  Prior to that, he was Superintendent of Cass Midway Schools in Cleveland, Missouri from 2001-2007 and was a high school principal in El Dorado Springs Schools in Missouri.  His other experiences include teacher, coach, and Director of Education for Heartland Schools with the Nevada R-V School System in Nevada, Missouri.

Thanks to each of the candidates that interviewed for the Madison County Superintendent’s position:  Dr. Sandra Spivey, Director of Secondary Education for Madison County Schools; Mr. Dan Evans, Director of Auxiliary Services for Madison County Schools; Mr. Dale Robbins, Retired Associate Superintendent of Gwinnett County Public Schools in Gwinnett, Georgia; Dr. Les Bivens, Superintendent of Community Schools of Frankfort Indiana; and Dr. Copeland.    Mr. Robbins withdrew his name for the position for personal and professional reasons.

 

The Madison County School System is pleased to welcome Dr. Copeland as the new superintendent!
