A large storage building located off South Memorial Parkway in south Huntsville was destroyed by fire Saturday.

The fire was reported about 1:45 p.m. at 505 Green Cove Road. A large column of smoke could be seen across south Huntsville.
Several fire companies battled the blaze which took about an hour to contain. Crews were still on the scene several hours later knocking down hotspots.
Huntsville Fire District Chief S. Holman said a motorhome, boat, and three antique cars were destroyed.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known.
It was not known who owns the building or what was inside although several loud explosions could be heard coming from inside.
