Hurricane Irene may have had no direct affect on the Huntsville area but one indirect affect was on display Tuesday at Huntsville International Airport.

Two Boeing 747 Large Cargo Freighters (LCFs) are currently being stored at the field after being diverted to avoid Irene, according to Boeing spokesperson Patty Soloveichik.

The Dreamlifters, as they are also known, are based on the Boeing 747 and feature an oversized fuselage. There are only four of the Dreamlifters in existence and they are used for transporting parts for the new Boeing 787 Dreamliner, according to a Boeing website.

Soloveichik did not say how long the aircraft would be in Huntsville but added that it was less expensive to store the planes there than at other airports.
