Huntsville police are investigating two robberies that happened over the weekend.

The first was reported at 2:00 a.m. Saturday at Rime Village Apartments in west Huntsville.

The assailant then robbed the victim and cut him as the attempted to fight back. The victim was treated for a non-life threatening injury. No arrests were made.

About 10:30 a.m. two individuals committed second-degree robbery (shoplifting) at the Wal-Mart at 2200 Sparkman Drive.

A loss prevention employee at the store, Christian Ray, 27, told police he watched two persons place merchandise into a buggy then attempt to leave the store without paying.

When Ray tried to stop the pair one of them, identified as Cornell Ragland, shoved Ray into a metal door.

At the same time the other shoplifter, identified as Kathryn Pavad, grabbed some of the merchandise from the buggy. The two then managed to get into a large SUV and drive away.

No arrests were made but police said the two were identified through the store surveillance system.

Ray sustained minor injuries.
