U.S. Rep. Parker Griffith/HNW file
(From release) Parker Griffith said today that he highlighted the $100,000 earmark from Mo Brooks to build a boathouse for local rowing organizations because it is a good example of the out of control spending at every level of government that is bankrupting our country.
“Our country is drowning in debt,” said Griffith. “We need leaders in Washington who will make the tough choices, cut spending and confront the national debt which is the number one threat facing our nation today.”
Griffith also released articles from the Huntsville Times detailing Mo Brooks’s role in giving the $100,000 earmark for the boathouse, as well as detailing more than $1.8 Million in other pork and earmarks directed by Brooks to other projects throughout the last three years.
“Last year I voted against the Stimulus Bill that spent more than 800 Billion dollars. Many of the projects in that bill had supporters that believed they were good projects, but the truth is our government can no longer afford to fund everything for everybody. Now hard choices must be made,” Griffith concluded. “Career politicians have been telling us for years we could cut the budget and fund projects like this boathouse, but now the bills are coming due and it is our children and grandchildren left holding the tab.”
