(From release) A 2005 Nobel Laureate in Physics will address Alabama A&M University physicists and the general public during a Friday, October 17, lecture in the school’s Dawson Building auditorium at 3 p.m.
Dr. John Hall, a fellow and senior research associate at JILA, a joint institute of the University of Colorado at Boulder and the National Institute of Standards and Technology, will be the guest speaker for the 11th Annual Putcha Venkateswarlu Memorial Lecture.
Hall will be speak on “The Optical Frequency Comb: A Versatile Tool for Science, Metrology and Medical Diagnostics.”
Dr. Hall shared the Nobel Prize in Physics in 2005 with Theodor W. Hänsch for their contributions to the development of laser-based precision spectroscopy, including the optical frequency comb technique. Also, the prize was shared with Roy J. Glauber of Harvard University.
